Funding for less-developed technologies such as solar, which can be inserted virtually anywhere in the country with minimal environmental impact once the costs are competitive, has the potential to create more (Green) jobs and germinate a brand-new supply chain, as noted in the author's base critique article. In comparison, The World Bank is now more supportive of hydropower’s future than past and present U.S. presidential administrations.

Hydro has important advantages when the comparison is solar and wind. Corporate energy users in Brazil are finding that small hydro (up to 30 MW) is a very attractive option to reduce electric energy contracting costs. Hydro power has been available for many decades, it is reliable, cost effective, very low on maintenance costs and runs 24 x 7 for more than 30 years!
