It would appear Schwab is not interested & of course ETFC would be on hold for now. JANA Partners LLC and S.A.C. Capital Advisors, LLC of course wanted to increase shareholder value through a business combination. Consolidation will only occur once risks have washed through the system.

This article obviously is purely speculative. However, if Ameritrade is acquired by TD then it will greatly increase competition in the sector because TD is an innovative financial services company. It has been the leading innovator in Canadian financial services since the 1960s, and has never lost that lead role.
