This article looks at the infrastructure upgrade ROI impacts on Verizon Wireless, who will be the first US operator to roll out LTE. Concerns raised about the risks of being the first to roll out a new technology. Questions the rush to bring this technology to market. Even Vodafone, who is a 45% Verizon shareholder, is not rushing to roll out 4G upgrades on its network. And the article looked at Verizon's other recent technology upgrade, FIOS, which still is a ROI question mark.

12/14/09 article in the WSJ announces Google's plans to sell a wireless phone, Nexus, next year. Google plans to sell the Nexus online and not through the carriers. The article speculates on what the phone will do to the Android Consortium, which Google has fostered. Concern raised that existing handset manufacturers in Android might get upset and leave the consortium. Or is it much to do about nothing.

I believe that there will not be long term implications on ATT Iphone exclusivity. Handsets initially released on one network is a long industry practice that has been going on for years. It has not led to domination of one Network operator over the others. Apple would prefer to see the iphone on competitor's networks as soon as possible to help them get a wider distribution and market share.
