French drugmaker to buy U.S. firm | www.stltoday.com
The proposed purchase of the Chattem corporation with their emphasis on beautifying skin products would not be inconvenienced one bit by the health care reforms being offered in congress. The market for OTC skin products is growing faster than any other segment of the health care market. This will only grow more as the aging baby boom market expands.

Medical devices not immune to recession worries | www.boston.com
Medical Devices are in certain cases Recession Proof This industry is complex. Yes there are certain manufactureres that will do well regardless of this recession as they manufacture excellent products and that are very much needed. Others are are extremely well marketed but are in a tough competition from imports. While others including some markety leaders will have negative growth and therefore will not do well this year but will tuen around in 2010. Others will suffer because they manufacture high priced equipment and many hospitals have reduce budgets this year. I base this information on my forty years in this industry having sold and manage sales of these products in more than 60 countries. In general this industry is a growth industry with significant increases in sales during the next five years. Certain foreign markets will grow faster than others, while others becuase of reduced cash flows will have reduced growth.

Heart Stents No Better Than Drugs for Chest Pain Over Time | www.bloomberg.com
As a sales executive in the cardiac surgery market for many years, I have been involved with many aspects of this industry as well as having met many cardiac surgeons and seen numerous coronary surgeries. Overall, the success rate with stents is poor vs coronary bypass and certain follow up medications. The ratio of success vs failure is impressive when studying the success of stents. Edward C. American's Gamble for Bargain Surgery Abroad | www.medpagetoday.com
A driving force is the growth of US citizens opting for cosmetic procedures in certain neighboring countries. This varies from breast implantation, facial cosmetic procedures including those that require IPL and laser treatments as well as hair removal treatments. In some countries this is a driving force for some physicians in some of these countries to buy expense cosmetic surgery equipment. Some of them offer packages so that the patients can take in some of the leisure activities offered in these countries. Some of these countries have highly rated esthetic plastic surgeons, dermatologist and cosmetic surgeons. However, there are also some charlatans involved who offer these elective procedures ay a low price and do not perform adequately leaving many Americans unsatisfied. It is best that Americans, Canadiens and Europeans learn adn obtain good references before embarking on a trip to a surgeon who is not fully trained or acredited.

FRACTIONALIZATION IN AESTHETIC SURGERY | www.goarticles.com
RECENTLY, I ATTENDED THE AAD, THE AMERICAN DERMATOLOGY CONGRESS IN WASHINGTON. THE MOST NOTED ITEM CONCERNING LASERS AND IPL WAS THE SUCCESS THAT THE NEW FRACTIONAL HAND PIECES FOR COSMETIC SURGERY ARE HAVING IN THE MARKET. THIS NEW SYSTEM USING NON ABLATIVE LASERS AND INFRA RED WAVE LENGTHS SEEM TO BE IMPROVING THE COSMETIC RESULTS OF MAY PATIENTS. IT IS FAR SUPERIOR THAT OTHER TRADITIONAL SYSTEMS ON THE MARKET AND CAN OFFER REAL COST SAVINGS TO PATIENTS INTERESTED IN NON INVASIVE AESTHETIC SURGERY.
MANY COMPANIES ARE CONSIDERING ENTERING THE MARKET HOWEVER THERE MAY BE SOME REAL LEGAL ISSUES AS TO WHO CAN HAVE THE RIGHT TO MARKET THESE NEW DEVICES.
WHAT IS INTERESTING ABOUT FRACTIONAL LASERS IN AND INFRA RED DEVICES IS THAT IT CAN BE ADAPTED TO A WIDE ARRANGE OF PULSED LIGHT, INFRA RED AND LASER MODALITIES THEREBY REDUCING THE HARMFUL SIDE EFFECTS
ONE OF THE CONCERNS IS THE NEED FOR COOLING AND THE AMOUNT NEEDED AND HOW IT IS APPLIED.
IN MY THIRTY YEARS INVOLVED IN THE INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION AND MARKETING OF IPL, INFRA RED AND LASER SYSTEMS I FEEL THIS NEW MODALITY OF FRACTIONALIZATION OFFERS SOME REAL BENEFITS FOR THE AGING PUBLIC.
