The halo created by how dynamics of cheap labor crater western jobs camoflauges the real global shift taking place at the most fundamental levels in infrastructure. The race has shifted from access to capital to access to the best skills pool. Where will India be in 2020 and IT? By 2020, Indian IT skills will be mature and growing. Tata Consulting, Wipro, IBM, Oracle, HP, MicroSoft, Infosys, Satyam...brands will run Software as a Service (SaaS) from India. India will have been in the 5th cycle of maturity - reach, learn, grow, improve...repeat. Cost differential will still be a major factor, but the experience of the skilled engineering pools will dominate. Conceptual computing R&D in India will match any other. Portions of new research in Nano Technology will shift to India, but not in a major way. This shift is in India is powered by fire in the belly, education, and risk taking. It will service innovation for the Fortune 1000s and basic needs for the mid-size companies.
