Burger King's New Restaurant Design | adage.com

History says new design and dramatic face lifts can bring customers back, look only at the percieved radical make over of Mc Donalds in UK, that proved very successful.here in UK.The new designs here in UK via the Saudi Group that has purchased 30 BK's and is rolling out a new design, they are having success....they will have to as the brand is looking tired...lets hope it reflects the heritage and trust and does not go the way of Jack n Box all those years ago- a step too far...

Food Inflation is likely to continue, experts say | www.venturacountystar.com

We are not over the inflationary spiral on Food costs yet, not only Food Margins but with Iron Ore price up so will Restaurant Equipment have to rise- an obvious trend. Many Suppliers in Europe have only passed on a third of their cost increases in the hope things would stablelise. The Chinese and Indian market is not the only region effecting supply - European consumers are dramically changing their habits, wasting less food and buying cheaper and smarter, this will decrease volumes and add to the woes of suppliers. Weather again plays it role on European Prices of Grain and soft fruits, the wet summer has not helped. Transportation and te fine line on margins will create some victims , especially as September/October the consumers begin to see job losses, higher home costs and begin to riegn in their spending.

Food labeling | pr-gb.com

Consumers are astute, will use both labels and web sites for research. mobile phones are used in Japan and Norway to take a picture of a pixle type code on packaging and send it to the brand owner, they then e-mail back total history/ingredient list for consumer or text the same info. Consumers join the safe well informed club. Bar codes and the like are now read via texted phone screens, this too can fulfill legal obligations by consumers for ingredients and EU demands on traceability and health risks- E numbers still greatly mis understood, on a recent project in Germany we were asked to list E 948 on lettuce, even though this is Oxygen. Complex a subject with no clear guidelines, labels are taking up valuable sales or brand positioning, adding cost and constant challenges for packaging companies.
