Nuclear Energy - But what do you do with the Heat
June 20, 2008
McCain: 45 new nuclear reactors by 2030 | www.msnbc.msn.com
Nuclear Energy is certainly part of the short term solution for energy independence in the USA with France being the posterchild for its success. It takes a lot of energy to produce nuclear fuel and operate Nuclear Plants which are large highly subsidized capital investments. If we begin building Nuclear Plants, consideration should be given to locating them so we can use the immense amount of waste heat generated.
Biofuel is a key component of Sustainable Energy

U.S. faces criticism over biofuel policy | www.iht.com
The transition from Ancient Solar Capital (oil, coal and natural gas) to Current Solar Capital (solar, wind, geothermal and biofuel) is essential to establishing a Sustainable Future. Development the Biofuel Industry in the US builds the foundation for a closed loop biological cycle of carbon dioxide sequestration and energy independence. Current use of corn, rapeseed and sugar cane are interim steps toward cellulosic (and algae) biofuels which can be grown without impacting the food supply in geographic areas currently not adaptable to crop production.
Greenhouse Gases - More than Carbon Dioxide

Markey announces revolutionary global warming bill | markey.house.gov
Although CO2 is the predominate GHG, the impact of methane and VOC Emissions on the environment are as much as 10 times more potent and must be included in any Global Warming Bill. Technologies exists to reduce hydrocarbon emissions from Industry, Agriculture and Automobiles. The potential energy benefit of requiring hydrocaron GHG capture and use could significantly improve US Energy Independence. Sources of hydrocarbon emissions including agricultural biomass and industrial VOC emissions represent a significant source of energy and reduction in short term GHG impact on Global Warming. Many hydrocarbons break down over a 10 year period to CO2, but their impact on Global Warming is immediate.
