Pfizer's deal with Strides is an outcome of immense pressure on US Healthcare system to bring down costs.There is pressure starts from Office of the President going down to the consumers & patients.This is 2nd such deal in India by Pfizer. The Revenue generation for Strides from this deal will be in the range of 300 - 450 million over next 2 - 3 years. While for Pfizer the realization would a Billion plus.Going by the trend there might be more such deals in the offing in the near future.

Many might feel that its too late for a company to launch vaccine for H1N1 now.But the truth is there is still a strong demand from many Governments around the world.Novartis, GSK and many European players could barely fulfill the demands of US Government and most of their stocks were booked for US.That left many other Governments which decided to stock pile or immunize their citizens high & dry.Cadila has a good chance to meet this unmet demand if the vaccines are shipped in next few months

Dr. Reddy's labs (DRL) has been working hard on its vision to move beyond Generic.Balaglitazone is result of this vision. Positive test results indicate a move in the right direction.If things fall in place DRL is looking at a revenue stream of 2 - 3 billion in the 1st 5 years of launch.Currently the Anti Diabetic market is stagnated with old molecules.  Patients have to some extent become immune or respond less to the current drugs on offer a new drug us always welcomed.

Slowly and steadily we are seeing positive news trickle in from Ranbaxy!! This indicates that measures taken to put their house in order are finally showing results. The latest approval to market Rocaltrol for which Ranbaxy will be the 1st to launch the Generic version will be good addition to the bottom line. 1st Generic always has a good advantage in terms of market capturing abilities. With a 70 million market open to capture, getting 35 - 40 million in 18 - 24 months is not impossible.

Shortly you will have everyone who can spell Pharma jumping on to vaccine band wagon. US Government alone has ordered 120 million doses, and the current suppliers like Novartis, Baxter, Chiron, etc... will be able to supply only 45 - 50 million doses. We have not factered in the orders from EU, & other nations in this. The Demand & Supply gap is huge, but the bone of contention is will the vaccines be ready before the flu die down. OR will the flu pandemic get worse??
