Solar One was a10MW Department of Energy Project put on line in 1983 at the cost of 143 million dollars. After several years of failed expectations it was shut down. It was fit with molten salts and reopened in the mid 90s after spending another 40 million dollars. Again after failed expectations it was shut down again after only two years.All the while right next door 15MW Solar Electric Generating Station 1 built for 62 million dollars has been generating electricity since 1984.
