The Health Committee of UK MPs have today published a damning report on the quality of NHS commissioning of healthcare services. Basically the attempt to introduce a provider/purchaser split has failed, and this report shows this. It's final quote is powerful,"If reliable figures for the costs of commissioning prove that it is uneconomic and if itdoes not begin to improve soon, after 20 years of costly failure, thepurchaser/provider split may need to be abolished."
