3-D TV has been broadcast periodically at least since 1953. Technological advances have made the pictures easier to see, allowed some level of compatibility with ordinary screens, and made it possible to "add depth" to previously shot programming. Unfortunately, except for holography (which is not yet ready for entertainment programming), 3-D technologies create a physiological disconnect that may be responsible for discomfort for long-term viewers.
