The Rohm and Haas deal for Dow is an interesting acquisition, considering the portfolio scenario of Rohm which in the chemicals sector is substancial. Also with the view of time element , I see Dow utilising Paulson's experience and insight to secure this deal.

Crude surpasses $123 as Democrats blame speculators | db.riskwaters.com
I think the huge rise in crude feedstock costs is quite an interesting scenario. Most of the major Oil producers and explorers are being cautious where production volume is concerned due to depletion of certain reserves and their attention on untap petroleum feedstocks such as shale , tar and investment in upcoming renewable energy factors such as wind , biodiesel , and others. The price dynamics would change regarding the costs per barrel quiet soon I should think as demand for jet ful and diesel reaches a plateau.
