The utility metering industry is going through rapid aggregation worldwide. The recent announcement of Itron (USA) buying Actaris (France) follows just a few months after the announcement of the Bayard Group's (Australia) acquisition of Cellnet (USA). Both Actaris and Bayard's Landis+Gyr unit have major market shares in the worldwide metering industry, and further acquisition by these companies and other large metering providers is inevitable.
