It was a battle for the next generation, just as many years ago the battle between BetaMax and VHS. VHS won and Panasonic made a great deal of money as the owner of the technology. It appears that Blu-ray will be the next standard format. I am sure to the relief of Sony and Phillips. The disclose that Time Warner Inc. has joined with other major labels to go this format may have been the death of HD DVD. In this case Toshiba will be the loser.
