Getting a Discount on Plastic Surgery | online.wsj.com

Discount cosmetic surgery is already here, but not via large commercial companies.  Retention of actual plastic and reconstructive surgeons may be difficult if they are not paying well.  There is a place for this, however the solo practitioner will continue to have word of mouth and a place.

In the Plastic Surgery literature wound care via home monitoring is advanced enough to change outcomes.  See Murphy, Bain et al in the Annals of Plastic Surgery June 2005. Home telemonitoring is good for certain problems, that require regular monitoring.  It has been shown to be equivalent to physical exam if a standard database is used and likely to reduce costs.  There are now CPT codes for it and eventually they will be paid.
