It is true that back in the 1990s wireless data was considered something in the far off future. Come to think of it when I ran standards committees in the early 1990s we were thinking the early 2000s would be the time for the wireless data market. So I guess we were not that far off.Much of the wireless technology you see today was on the drawing boards 15 and 20 years ago. To bring technology to the commercial market is a long process called productization (some call it commercialization).
