Strategic Windpower M&A Wide Open
April 21, 2009
EDF wind arm sees M&A bonanza in crisis | www.reuters.com
The financial crisis has indeed dampened windpower project finance for the short-term. Such a situation precipitates strategic opportunities for well-placed players. This public statement by one of the largest global developers is evidence that the sector may open up with a bang in the near-term.

Loss of wind causes Texas power grid emergency | www.reuters.com
The main component of the Texas problem was the inability of conventional generation to deliver when the wind fell off. Predictions of future windpower are becoming highly reliable, even up to 30 hours. The Texas drop off was as predicted, but backup plants failed. Further, the entire US grid has reliability problems completely unrelated to windpower.
Famed Bird Protection Group Endorses Windpower

Audubon Society Supports Windpower | www.renewableenergyaccess.com
The exceptionally strong endorsement for windpower by the conservative Audubon Society removes an important though specious argument against windpower. The industry has been fighting false perceptions about the avian mortality issue for more than two decades. With this support, the issue can now be laid to rest.
Analysts Misrepresent Renewables
December 14, 2006
The Myth Of Alternative Energy | www.countercurrents.org
The latest two analyses on windpower and renewables are factually wide of the mark, and should be discounted. Major discrepancies between the "facts" quoted in these two analyses and reality on the ground show that the opposition to renewables is not based upon science, nor on true economics.
Windpower Tax Credit Extension
December 14, 2006
Key Tax Bill for Renewables Passed By Congress | www.renewableenergyaccess.com
The fatal period of boom and bust cycles for the renewable industries appear to be over with the extension of renewable credits. There is now a stable base of project finance available until at least the end of 2008.

AMSC Buys Austrian Wind Turbine Manufacturer | www.renewableenergyaccess.com
The reported acquisition is quite minor, and doesn't signify any change in the industry which isn't already ongoing.
M & A activity is already at a high level, and increasing.

Suzlon Announces Production of 1st Wind Turbine Blade in USA | www.renewableenergyaccess.com
Suzlon's commencement of rotor blade production in the US is not only a big step forward in its attack on the major manufacturers' market share in the US. This is also evidence of what all manufacturers are likely to do when entering new markets. Evaluation of the various manufacturers' capabilities must now include analyzing the delivery of key local components.
CO2 Report Boosts Windpower, Solar energy

British CO2 Report Supports Renewables Increase | news.independent.co.uk
The seriousness of the Stern Report's conclusions are the most damaging assessment yet of the economic cost of continuing to ignore the damages to society from burning fossil fuels.
"Radical measures" to respond to global warming are recommended by the report, and the government of the UK has asked German Chancellor Angela Merkel to make it the centerpiece of her EU presidency beginning in January.
Both the PM and the Chancellor accept that this means new green taxes.
Debunking the Myth of Alternative Energy
October 26, 2006
The Myth Of Alternative Energy | www.countercurrents.org
The article is so filled with technical ignorance that has been proven long ago that it should not be dignified with a response. Why it appears on a professional site is beyond me.
Oil is not anything approaching a perfect fuel, even if global warming or the need for humans to breathe unpolluted air didn't exist.
Renewable energy can replace all current and projected energy use, in all necessary forms, within decades, period.

Floating Wind Turbines the Wave of the Future | www.renewableenergyaccess.com
Floating wind turbines were first proposed in the early 1970's by the chief designer of the Nautilus class of nuclear submarines, Prof. Wm. E. Heronemus. He proposed an Apollo program to use offshore windpower to make hydrogen around the globe. This energy would be used to replace all fossil fuels.
Research programs in Europe, Japan, and even the US have produced floating designs, most based upon oil rig technical development.
