Lake Las Vegas is a very upscale community about fifteen miles S.E. of the Las vegas Strip. Private homes - 1700 of them surround three very beautiful golf courses, Lowe's Hotel and a Ritz-Carlton would be considered the anchor properties for the area.The MonteLago Casino is a few steps from the Ritz and well located within the Italian style village retail shopping promenade. Sounds great, but business is in distress and so are the properties mentioned above.........

Could the timing for a purchase by Penn National entering the Las Vegas gaming arena be slightly premature for them. Is this truly the market area that would fit into their family of properties? Can this be a mistake on their part, by looking into a type of higher end gaming establishments?

This possible purchase by Boyd Gaming Group of some of Station Casinos properties could help Boyd's position in the local market. My thought is that where does it leave their mega resort The Echelon that was recently halted on the Las Vegas Strip. It would seem more prudent to get this project on the road again. By any standards, the locals market has been in a state of flux to say the least. No doubt Boyd is anticipating a superb deal from Station Casinos. The time may be ripe for a transition of properties. It remains to be seen just what the real reaction from Station will be.

A reorganization plan will certainly aid in lowering debt service. Is this enough of a stimulant to keep things on an even footing until there is some type of a recovery in the economy? Does a law suite, at this time, really help either side? Should all of the involved parties get together to solve the differences with out the lawyers getting involved with a suite? Should the best interest of Sation Casinos properties be the main concern - I think so.....

The proper blend of tourist and local trade is a must for this property. It would be a serious stretch to say the "M" is on the strip - it is located on Las Vegas boulevard, however, on the farthest southern part the is still considered in the city. It will be a rough task to make this property meet all of the owners expectations.

Will the play in Macau continue to give a big boost to American based companies? I am sure, that as the market starts to recoup you will find added interest in this area of intense gaming. I can't think of another place that creates as much dollars invested by players on a regular basis. It's what is keeping some of the top gaming companies looking better than expected during the business and economic drop.

Tourists restrictions in general usually will help bring more interest to an area. In the case of Macau, the Chinese powers to be seem to be hurting business. What's their plan - there is to much investment capital invested and planned to be invested for the government to be brainless in this matter. It does not say much for the top decision makers and their business and marketing prowess.

The closure of an auto dealership in general is no big deal. The loss of many dealerships under the same banner can't be a good sign. The trickle down effect of losing jobs could hurt gaming in the local market. Loss of income means less people at the gaming table and slots. We can hardly afford more problems.

Seems that the only way most companies can cope with business being off is to cut payroll. Laying off good staff member is not the way to go. There are other measures that can be worked out. How much will these reduced staff actually help IGT, and is it premature to think that there is a break in the gloom and doom coming in 2009?
