A NEW PROPERTY FOR STATION CASINOS - A GOOD OMEN IN A DOWN ECONOMY

August 25, 2008

SUN CITY ALIANTE-ABUZ WITH CASINO ANTICIPATION | www.lasvegassun.com

This property construction was started prior to the drop off in business. It's not the best scenario for an opening, however, it should stimulate some new business for this company. It's in a rather new residential area and should help the community it serves very well.

IT SEEM THAT TROPICANA ENTERTAINMENT MAY FINALLY BE HEADED IN THE CORRECT DIRECTION

August 25, 2008

TROPICANA BUYER GAMBLED BIG ON '06 BUY - FELL HARD | www.lasvegassun.com

New top man at Tropicana Entertainment, Scott Buterra, has handled his new duties with efficiency and care for employee's.  A good start for a company that had it's head buried in the sand since being purchase by Bill Yung in 2006. Even having paid more than market value for Tropicana Entertainment, with expert management there could have been light at the end of this dark passage way.

THE MACAU ECONOMY HAS BEEN EXCELLENT - WHY PUT A DAMPER ON GOOD TIMES??

August 19, 2008

TRYING TIMES LOOM FOR SANDS IN MACAU | www.lvrj.com

Is it my imagination or does China not have both oars in the water? Why try and curtail the profit structure of a very viable industry serving their country well? It's time that the policies of China work to help industry rather than hamper it. Hard to figure their motives...

STATION CASINOS SHOULD BE ABLE TO OVER COME THE SHORT FALL IN BUSINESS

August 18, 2008

STATION CASINOS REPORT A 2Q FALL IN REVENUE | www.lasvegassun.com

Having been an avid fan of Station Casinos for quite a long time, it always distresses me to see negative reports concerning them. Their second quarter reported loss does not seem to be outlandish. They have many thing on their plate at this time. The cost of doing business continues to rise as the affect of the economy continues to hurt the bottom line. When will gaming we see the light???

DURANGO STATION CASINO WILL BE BUILT - WILL IT BE STARTED IN 2009 ???

July 28, 2008

AT LAST, DURANGO STATION DETAILS - (NEW PROPERTY IN LAS VEGAS) | www.lvrj.com

Money has a way of raising concerns for most new construction in Las Vegas. Colony Capital will have to make the decision along with their partners ( the Fertita family) if the timing is right for early 2009. The money is there, however, will they pay the inflated price to get financed?

WYNN MACAU GIVES STRENGTH TO WYNN RESORTS

July 25, 2008

MACAU HOTEL LIFTS WYNN RESORTS PROFITS - CHINA POPERTY HELPS RESULTS SURPASS FORECAST | www.lvrj.com

With the economy in a short fall downturn can the opening of a new Las Vegas resort help or hinder Wynn Resorts? What will the effect of this new property be on the bottom line. When we see an up turn in business will it be enough to ward off declining room inventory??

ARE THEY OR ARE THEY NOT A SOVERIGN - TRIBAL LANDS THAT IS???

July 21, 2008

Gambling and the Law: Court Rules Tribal Casino is Merely a Casino | www.eog.com

The effect of taking certain aspects of sovereignty away from the tribes could set off a very large legal battle. How will this affect the bottom line for these casinos? Is there a compromise in the offing and if so when?

PENN NATIONAL GAMING NOW ABLE TO USE FUNDS FOR NEW VENTURES

July 14, 2008

Penn National Gaming Cancels Its Sale to Private Equity Firms | www.nytimes.com

Will the ending of this private take over of Penn National improve their stock. Peter Carlino, head man at Penn national thinks they will buy back some of their stock, invest in new properties and generally put Penn back in the plus side of the of the of the profit sheet. Could happen!

The Aliante Station will make a decided difference for this area in North Las Vegas. They are a very strong company managed by knowledgeable people. There is high expectations are that this new property will be one of their best.

JAMUL INDIAN VILLAGE HAS HAD AN UP HILL BATTLE TO OPEN IT'S LAND FOR CASINO USE

June 23, 2008

CASINO OPPONENTS KEEP CLOSE EYE ON RESERVATION (CALIFORNIA) | www.signonsandiego.com

Has the community taken the time to actually weigh the plus and minus features of having this property built in their community? Looks like the few opponents have taken it upon themselves to hold up progress. It's seems that tribal land has become untouchable entity when it comes to our laws. It is the way it is, there must be some meeting of the minds to allow this casino be built.

THE HOTEL INDUSTRY TRYING TO MAINTAIN THEIR MARKEY PLACE DURING DOWNTURN

June 19, 2008

Hotel CEOs Lament Softening Demand, Foresee Some Discounting | www.btnmag.com

Are there going to be more layoff's in the hotel industry? Will the major chains be able to weather this short fall? Where does this leave the smaller independents? Is there going to be a rainbow in the near future - how long will this last??

THE CASINO INDUSRTY IN LAS VEGAS DOING THEIR ALL TO KEEP THE TOURISTS COMING

June 17, 2008

FOR HOTEL DEALS SHOP AROUND - LA VEGAS | www.lasvegassun.com

The benefits to the Nevada casino industry to offer more incentives for both tourist and locals to return to past numbers is vital. The business downturn has taken a toll on all properties. The thought of sitting on their hands to see if business will return on it's own will not produce results. It is an industry wide dilemma that needs to be addressed.

STEVE WYNN'S PLANS FOR HIS STRIP PROPERTY COULD NOTCH ANOTHER STAR ON HIS RESUME

May 28, 2008

WYNN PLANS RITZY MEETING COMPLEX | www.lvrj.com

Steve Wynn's plans to build additional convention and hotel space may have to wait. The lending market is not quite what it should be at this time. It may be more prudent to put a hold until the market lightens up a bit. Money has not stopped him in the past though - he always manages to get the cash when needed - he always was the innovator and always had results to prove he was correct in his calculations.

LAS VEGAS BASED STATION CASINOS WILL SURVIVE THE BUSINESS DOWNTURN

May 16, 2008

STATION FORGES AHEAD DESPITE QUARTERLY LOSS | www.lvrj.com

It's a matter of time till the downturn in the gaming industry will adjust itself. Can Station's hold on and still claim their #1 spot within the locals market. What will their recent private buyout partnership do to control losses? It's not a wait and see market ------

WHY SHOULD A TRIBE BE ABLE TO PICK AND CHOOSE WHERE TO HAVE A CASINO

May 15, 2008

GOVERNMENT GIVES CALIFORNIA TRIBE LAND FOR CASINO | www.citizenlink.org

Is any person or persons able to put up a casino any place they like? This must be the exclusive right of Native American Tribes. How will this affect community relations? Where do the tribes go from here - do they actually have any restrictions? Must they be appeased every time they want something?

THE TROPICANA LAS VEGAS TO BE PLACED BACK ON THE MARKET - AN INTERESTING PROSPECT

May 14, 2008

TROPICANA ENTERTAINMENT BOSS MAY LOSE INFLUENCE | www.lvrj.com

Why should we care if the Tropicana Las Vegas is sold again? The general public could care less, however, it would be a very severe blow to Columbia Sussex image to again have to sell a property for the poor management choices of Bill Yung - the top man behind it's rapid demise. Their Atlantic City property is now in the hand of a appointed Receiver. It's bankruptcy, Chapter 11, to save the day -Maybe, Maybe not........

MACAU IS LIMITING ANY NEW GAMING PROPERTIES - WILL THIS HELP OR HURT

April 23, 2008

MACAU GOVERNMENT TO HALT GROWTH, CURB GAMBLING | www.bloomberg.com

The timing may be OK for the Government of Macau to take a second look at what is happening to this very vital land. How will this decision on their part affect the future growth of this fabulous gaming capital. It has been an investors paradise up to now and has offered some of our top gaming companies the opportunity to expand. This is a gamers dream come true - look at the numbers........

It's hard to Trump Mr. Trump - Las Vegas has a new beautiful Hotel / Condo

April 14, 2008

JUST TRY TRUMPING THIS | www.lasvegassun.com

The investment money market could be reason enough for a delay in the start of Trumps second tower. He would not be the only one taking a second look at finances during this down period. He can look at the Strip and see where Las Vegas is heading. If he wants to make some serious inroads into the gaming business here he needs not to hold back to long. He has a knack for doing what others have failed to do - successfully I might add.

HERBST GAMING NEEDS TO HOLD ON - THEY HAVE A GOOD BASE

April 14, 2008

HERBST GAMING FACES HURDLES | www.lvrj.com

Herbst Gaming has some tall ladders to climb. It seems that they may have over extended themselves. It would seem they must consider doing some soul searching - restructuring their debt should be the first order of business..... New direction is also a serious thought they will have to put in motion.

THE LOSS OF A BRANDED PROPERTY IS ALWAYS A SAD NOTE FOR THE CASINO INDUSTRY

April 14, 2008

HOOTER BRAND WILL GET THE BOOT - NEW OWNER WILL RENAME, REMODEL THE OFF STRIP PROPERTY | www.lvrj.com

Does this hotel have a chance in today's casino market? The possibility of making the Hooter Hotel into to a winner will be a large undertaking. It's had, a less than stellar reputation over the past few years. The new owners seem to be trying by renaming and updating the property. It's a hefty project.......
