GAMBLING GOOD FOR NATIVE AMERICANS ? | www.cl-nocasino.org
Take gaming away from the Native Americans and just what are their prospects? It's been a bonanza for large portion of tribes and the communities they are surrounded by. It's hard to believe that someone or some groups, that may have never set foot on a reservation, think they can tell the tribes what may best for their people.

CHIEF ACCUSES CASINO FOES OF LYING | www.casinocitytimes.com
The Narragansett tribe is not out of line asking the voters to allow casino gaming within the borders of Rhode Island. The nay sayers will always come out of the woodwork and try to prevent a tribe from pulling themselves up and making an honest living. Gaming is either a legal institution or it's not. It is up to the voters to see that this issue is passed. It's an important revenue maker for Rhode Island. It's important for employment and all the amenities that go with a first class property. It's vital for the investment community to see how this issue plays out.

AZTAR INVESTORS APPROVE SALE TO COLUMBIA SUSSEX | www.reviewjournal.com
Columbia Sussex allowed themselves to be lured into a bidding war for the Tropicana Las vegas and a couple of other nondescript properties. They payed through the nose to acquire the Tropicana, but did capture an extremely valuable corner. Is it worth the dollars they paid? Let's see what becomes of this great piece of land......

CALIFORNIA'S GAMBLING GREW TO $13 BILLION - THAT WAS TWO YEARS AGO | www.signonsandiego.com
California is moving forward with gaming as all expected they would. The Governor has intimated that he favors the revenue sharing afforded to the State of California. The casinos make a substantial donation to the coffers of the State and Cities they serve. That's as it should be...

A BUYOUT OF HARRAH'S COULD SHUFFLE CASINO GIANTS FOCUS | www.lasvegassun.com
Remember that the buyout at this point is an intriguing proposition of what may happen. Caution, the main focus is it only may happen. There is no guarantee at this writing that anything is a done deal regarding a buyout. Even though there has been a sincere offer made to Harrah's, it will be a long journey until we see an actual take over by any investment group.
Can this really be a very bright idea??

OUTLAW GAMBLING | www.cl-nocasino.org
The thought of outlawing gambling is downright stupid - It will not add to the States or Federal Government financial position in any way. Nor will it change attitudes of the gambling public. Thinking that spending dollars on gambling will seriously affect the economy is nonsense. John Kindt needs to go back to school and take a course on reality.

WALL STREET EXPECTS BIG THINGS IN MACAU | www.reviewjournal.com
I am not sure why it has taken Wall Street so long to catch on to the fact that Macau is a golden goose for resorts and gambling. The plain facts are, if things keep going the way they seem to be headed, Macau will surpass Las Vegas in gross income. It's a place that allows gamblers to bet it all and come back for more, time and again. It has been that way for decades - the major American gambling resorts have taken their time getting into this great cash cow resort area.

SOUTH COAST SALE BACKED BY BOARD | www.reviewjournal.com
The Boyd Group that either purchased Coast Casinos or as reported partnered or merged with Coast Casinos some time ago have decided to sell the South Coast Casino. What ever the situation actually was, the decision to sell South Coast may not be in their best interest in the long run. They have sold the property to Michael Gaughan the previous owner of the Coast Casinos. It a good buy for Gaughan and maybe not so good sale for Boyd.

STRIP LAND DEAL: HARRAH'S, BOYD SWAP PLOTS | www.reviewjournal.com
This is a terrific deal for both companies. It has been in the works for months - It will enhance the new Echelon by adding acres of strip land to the north side of their new project. The Harrah's Company will pick up the Barbary Coast Hotel allowing them to control the property from the Venetian Hotel to Flamingo Avenue. An enormous amount of front footage on the Strip.

BIG PLAN FOR BIG DOWNTOWN PARCEL | www.reviewjournal.com
The thought of putting together a 70 acre parcel that could encompass a multi - business and residential area would certainly the look and feel of the Downtown redevelopment project. The potential for this type of project has been bounced around for some time. The basic problem is to find developers and funding organizations to get on board and lead this dream to some type of realistic beginning-

THE BUNNY IS BACK | www.reviewjournal.com
Can this work in conjunction with the Palms Hotel - it's Playboys best bet to jump start their old theme. They really never did great in a gaming atmosphere, however it's a good bet to take off at the Palms. There is everything going for them - built in customers, great marketing team and a desire by the owners of the Palms to make this project a success story.

COST OF ALIANTE STATION JUMPS TO $600 MILLION | www.reviewjournal.com
Stations Casino Group are at again - they have planned a large and elegant casino just on the boundaries of a rather large retirement community. Situated on the 215 Beltway that will eventually encircle the entire city, it is rather like their Red Rock property location recently opened. It's a real great move for Stations. Just another excellent property serving the local community. It will be a great addition for the City of North Las Vegas and will stir more business and investment where it is needed.

U.S. OFFICIALS CAUTIONS ON INDIAN GAMBLING REVENUE SHARING | www.signonsandiego.com
Revenue to the State comes in the form of taxes and needless to say some other forms. Tribal gaming is supposed to be a non taxed entity. Although, I'm not sure why that ever happened but thats the way it is. By not allowing States to cash in on this enormous amount of funding will do damage to their individual resources. It would be a bitter pill to swallow for some States in financial distress.

LAND, NOT CASINO, MAY DRAW BIDS FOR THE RIVIERA | www.reviewjournal.com
The small amount of land left on the Las Vegas Strip dictates just what dollar values per acre land is going for. Is it the real value or a pumped price resulting from supply and demand theory? Can a developer justify paying up to $30 million per acre and most important can they place enough density in rooms and other amenities to make ends meets? Interesting prospect for the Lending community to ponder.

WYNN DEALERS COMPLAINT REJECTED | www.reviewjournal.com
This is really a travesty - the idea of taking tips from the dealers and splitting them with the Floor Supervisors is like stealing. It seems as though, for the moment, that Wynn Las vegas has made their point. The results of this may deeply effect the other major properties to try a similar type of abuse. It remains to be seen if the others will subject their employees to such a ploy.

ILLINOIS SEEMS TO BE GETTING SERIOUS ABOUT GAMBLING | www.reviewjournal.com
The invasions of privacy suggested by the Illinois Gaming Board is a ridiculous form of spying. It's granted that problem gambling is a serious affliction, however, there are other solutions rather than a Big Brother attitude. They need to rethink their method of trying to help those in need before they kill the golden goose.

STATIONS CASINOS KILLS HIGH-RISE CONDO PROJECT | www.reviewjournal.com
The implications for Station Casinos not to go ahead with the condo project could lead to some hurt on Red Rocks bottom line in the future. The investment made to make the Red Red Rock casino a destination resort with high rise condo's attached is not directly in jeopardy however, it certainly will be losing potential casino business by not following through. It certainly may entice people to move into other areas some distance away that may had planned purchases with Stations.

BOYD,S PENNSYLVANIA CASINO PRIZED FOR IT'S LOCATION | www.onlinecasinoconditions.com
The Boyd Group has so much on it's plate now, is it wise to go into an area near Philadelphia? Not being able to open a full blown casino operation, why not wait and lobby for the right to have live games. The competition from Atlantic City will be fierce and has many a year head start on gaming. Can this out of the way property show some strength - yes - they will do business and certainly keep their head above water, but a jump to be first is not really necessary for Boyd at this time.

Dunkin' Donuts to offer hot dogs, other foods beyond breakfast | www.boston.com
The fast food industry has always been looking for new ideas to enhance their business. Almost all of the majors have added items and specialties to find new revenue. You need to keep up and Dunkin' Donuts has always just missed the boat with their new products. It's a bottom line natural to find new trends in fast food that will appeal to their customers. It very important to stabilize their market niche without jeopardizing the donut end of their business or they might have to change to Dunkin' Hot Dogs.

A STRIP YES, BUT NOT THE STRIP, WYNN SAYS | www.reviewjournal.com
The bottom line is, it really doesn't matter what you call the land. The fact is, being on a resort location off the coast of China could be spectacular. After all is said and done, Wynn has the reputation and available lenders to follow his dream. It could be a bonanza for both the Investment community and the Wynn organization. Look for the speculation to possibly become fact after the opening of his Macau property in a couple of weeks.
