Allan Haims is Principal of ASER Marketplace, a Los Angeles-based consultancy firm that provides strategic, brand development and operational services to retail and wholesale clients. Through 2004, Mr. Haims was President at Wet Seal, an apparel and accessory retailer, where he was responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive turn-around plan to return the company to former levels of profitability and was involved with the re-capitalization of the business. Mr. Haims has over 25 years of experience in the retail industry. He is experienced in merchandising and marketing, store operations, supply chain, human resources and real estate. Previously, Mr. Haims was Senior Vice President, Worldwide at The Walt Disney Company, and has also held senior merchandising positions at Victoria’s Secret stores and May Department stores. The clear winner here (assuming flawless execution) is JC Penney & LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton (owner of Sephora) - as well as the major beauty companies - i.e. Lauder, L'oreal, P&G Prestige - that were among the losers of the Federated/May Co Merger.
Kohl's - lacking a prestige beauty business - potentially can loose customers to JCP, as the roll out of Sephora ramps up.
