Bruce Goldberg is a pharmacist with Kohll's Pharmacy and Homecare in Omaha, Nebraska, where he works in the managed care division with payer groups, insurers, and the general public on methods to reign in prescription drug costs. He is the past president of Pharmacy Express Services and the current President of Pharmacy Benefit Advisors. Pharmacy Express was a regional independent pharmacy chain, leasing space in supermarkets, which was purchased by a national chain. Bruce has experience in managed care, PBM contracting, and general pharmacy network management. He developed a program which allows generic and therapeutic substitution rates which are over 20% higher than industry standards. In 2009, he launched Pharmacy Benefit Advisors, a pharmacy benefits review company. PBA works with self-funded employer groups, reviewing cost and copay structures, while auditing PBM invoices. The firm consults with employers, employees, and the prescriber community to maximize Rx savings via therapeutic substitution programs. (This is me - Update Profile)

Buying Brand-Name Drugs Over Generics Raises Medicaid Costs | www.bloomberg.com
With dollar shortfalls for Rx benefits, controlling drug costs is imperative. By utilizing a strict formulary of covered products, along with clear, real time messaging to the pharmacies, the generic fill rate (GFR) will rise. With a higher GFR, savings is attained.

Lupin gets US FDA approval for hypertension capsules | www.pharmabiz.com
The approval of Lupin's generic Lotrel line will create one more player in a field that is currently not very crowded. Yet, don't expect the other players to not react! Generic Lotrel is currently priced relatively high compared to other multi-source hypertensive products.

Aurobindo Pharma receives final approval for Cetirizine Hydrochloride Solution (OTC) | www.pipelinereview.com

Reverse Payments for PHRMA smell fishy
May 15, 2008
US trade agency wants to end deals delaying generics | www.reuters.com
Our FTC has gone on record once again stating that the so called "Phrma reverse payments" to generic manufacturers breach antitrust regulations. Delaying competition by simply paying off another supplier, leads to higher prices for me, you, and our families. My grandpa used to call this stuff by another term....."shmearing".
