Bryan Tramont is the Managing Partner at Wilkinson Barker Knauer LLP in Washington, DC, where his areas of practice includes telecommunications law, mass media law, and administrative law. Previously, he served as Chief of Staff of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) under Chairman Michael Powell. As FCC Chief of Staff, Mr. Tramont managed all aspects of the agency’s operations and directed the FCC staff in implementing all components of the agency’s broad policy portfolio including media, broadband, mobility and traditional telephone services. Before being elevated to the Chief of Staff post, Mr. Tramont was Chairman Powell’s Senior Legal Advisor, advising him generally on strategic policy matters and specifically on wireless, international, technology, satellite, and consumer issues. Mr. Tramont also served as Senior Legal Advisor to Commissioner Kathleen Abernathy and, before that, to Commissioner Harold Furchtgott-Roth. Mr. Tramont served on the Commercial Spectrum Management Advisory Committee (CSMAC) to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) under both George W. Bush and Barack Obama, and served as the committee’s Co-Chairman from 2008-2010. Mr. Tramont was featured in Legal 500 US 2011, Telecoms & Broadcast Regulatory, named in the Legal 500’s Leading Lawyers 2011 list and, in its most recent survey, was named by Washingtonian magazine as one of the Top Communications Lawyers in the city.
