Ms. Carol Connor Cohen

Council Member Biography

Carol Connor Cohen is Chair of the ERISA litigation practice at Arent Fox in Washington, DC., as well as a member of the firm's Executive Committee. She concentrates on ERISA, bankruptcy, and appellate litigation. She defends employers, fiduciaries and employee benefit plans in litigation regarding defined benefit plans, including cash balance plans and claims of breach of fiduciary duty. She also represents various parties in bankruptcy proceedings, focusing particularly on the intersection between bankruptcy and benefits law, and has handled a large number of appellate matters involving ERISA, bankruptcy, and employment law. Ms. Cohen was previously General Counsel of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC), where she was responsible for hundreds of cases in the federal courts involving ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, bankruptcy, administrative law and labor law. She is a frequent lecturer at conferences and seminars on ERISA litigation, employment, and bankruptcy topics. (This is me - Update Profile)
