Council Member Biography

Dave Stevens is a Private Investor in the natural resources sector. Mr. Stevens has over 35 years of international and domestic mineral exploration and mine development experience. Prior, he was the Vice President of Exploration for Noranda and Senior Vice President of Independence Mining Company. At Noranda, Mr. Stevens led a major restructuring of a $50 million annual exploration program. Under his direction, Noranda expanded into new regions including: Australia, Brazil, and Europe, and acquired mines in Chile, Peru and Australia. Mr. Stevens has been involved with successful exploration, evaluation, and development of gold and base metal deposits throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia. The Bathurst mining district has been intensely explored for over 40 years.

Noranda, the areas main operator, explored the region using proven and new exploration techniques for over 10 years with a cumulative exploration expenditure of over $50 million.

The region is extremely complex geologically and while many "massive sulfides" bodies have been discovered, few have been economically viable due to low zinc and other payable metal content.
