Mr. Douglas Bissell

Council Member Biography

Douglas Bissell is the Principal of DFB Consulting, Australia. DFB Consulting provides consulting services in the mineral industry. Mr. Bissell is responsible for advising clients on a range of matters and in particular business strategy, marketing plans, market research, product development, and negotiation tactics with Asian customers. Major customers include CI Minerals Australia, Itochu Corporation, Anaconda Nickel, Grange Resources, Hope Downs Management Services, North West Shelf, Consolidated Minerals, and RFC Finance. He has more than 43 years of industrial experience gained mostly in the iron ore industry in the commercial development of new projects. Mr. Bissell retired in January 2001 as the Vice President of Marketing with BHP (Iron Ore) in Western Australia where his responsibilities included the annual price negotiations with Japanese Steel Mills. He has international marketing experience in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, People’s Republic of China, and Asia. Mr. Bissell holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of New South Wales.
