Council Member Biography

Eric T. Mikkelson is Partner in the Corporate and Securities Group at SNR Denton LLP located in Kansas City, Missouri, where he specializes in corporate tax law and has experience with corporate acquisitions, dispositions, mergers, joint ventures and other transactions; limited liability company, S corporation and partnership transactions; and contract negotiation and drafting. Mr. Mikkelson has successfully led deal teams through all phases of small and middle-market acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, joint ventures and other transactions, representing sellers and buyers, both public and private. His recent transactions include representing a global construction materials company in its acquisition of a quarry, with related lease, option and right of first refusal; closing the $135 million acquisition via merger of his client, a leading retail chain, by a private equity fund, with related employment agreements and pre-merger asset spin-off; and providing tax counsel to a publicly-held REIT in connection with a $46 million public offering of its stock. Mr. Mikkelson has lectured and published titles including "Recent Code Changes Favorable to REITs,” “MultiState Guide to S Corporations,” and "Tax Aspects of Real Estate Transactions."
