Mr. Gary Bennett

Council Member Biography

Gary Bennett is Chief Executive Officer – Asia and Executive Vice President of New York Life International since October 2010. Mr. Bennett is responsible for setting the overall strategic vision for New York Life's wholly-owned affiliates in Hong Kong and Taiwan and its joint venture with China's Haier Group, Haier New York Life, and serves as an advisor to the Haier New York Life Board and its shareholders. Previously, he was CEO and Managing Director of Max New York Life Insurance Company Ltd., in India, as well as President and CEO of New York Life Insurance Worldwide. Prior to New York Life Insurance, he was Managing Director of North Asia of Prudential Corporation Asia, PCA LIFE's parent company. While at PCA, he was a member of the PCA Regional Board and Life ExCo and Chairman of the life insurance companies in Japan and Korea as well as Director of PCA Asset Management, Japan. Prior to this, Mr. Bennett was Chairman and CEO of CMG Asia Life in Hong Kong, where he led CMG's substantial growth in Hong Kong. He was also instrumental in establishing CMG Asia Pensions and Retirement Co. and CMG Asia Trustee. Mr. Bennett also held a number of senior management positions for Colonial in the Asia-Pacific region, including CEO and Chairman of Jardine CMG Consulting in Singapore where he worked on the China Licensing Team and headed the team that saw Colonial receive the first Australia Joint Venture Life Insurance License in Vietnam and China.
