Mr. Gary Hunter

Council Member Biography

Gary V. Hunter is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Railroad Industries Incorporated (RII), a firm providing consulting services in the rail transportation industry. He has over 36 years of experience in rail operations, marketing, and finance, as well as planning equipment utilization, branch lines, intermodal, and financial analysis in the rail industry. Mr. Hunter has served in top management positions in Class I and short line railroads for many years. His vast expertise has included involvement in some of the most pivotal events in the industry from the mid-70's through today. With RII, he continues to develop a reputation as one of the most experienced, innovative, and forward thinking leaders in the field, especially in the areas of complete operations analysis, costing, and alternative scenarios. Mr. Hunter is also a Member of several transportation organizations, including the American Association of Railroads (AAR), National Industrial Transportation League (NITL), and the Board of Sierra Northern Railway.
