Dr. Herbert Baraf FACP, FACR

Council Member Biography

Herbert Baraf, MD, FACP, FACR, is Managing and Senior Partner at Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates, one of the country's largest private rheumatology practices with 13 rheumatologists. He is Founding Medical Director of the Center for Rheumatology and Bone Research, where he has been the principal investigator on more than 400 clinical research projects, since 1983. Dr. Baraf is Clinical Professor of Medicine at George Washington University Medical Center, where he has had faculty appointments since July 1979. He is also Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland. Dr. Baraf is active in the American College of Rheumatology and serves on the Board of Directors of CORRONA, the Consortium of Research Rheumatologists of North America. He lectures widely on therapeutics in the rheumatic diseases with special research interests in gout, rheumatoid arthritis, and degenerative joint disease and is considered an authority on rheumatology practice management.
