Mr. James Gathard

Council Member Biography

James Gathard is the Owner of National Consulting Services, a New York based consulting firm providing advisory in financial services, strategic planning, legislative/government relations and postsecondary education, with which he is associated since July 1999. Mr. Gathard has over 20 years of experience in the education credit space and student segment. He previously was a Student Lending Business Executive/Senior Vice President at Bank of America, where he was responsible for full LOB; balance sheet, credit, distribution, operations and risk for government and private student lending. Mr. Gathard was also a Strategic Planning Executive at JPMorgan Chase, Education Finance Group including management of Chase Education First- JPMC/SLM joint venture, serving on its Board. Prior to a career in financial services, he was a Deputy Provost/Assistant Executive Vice President at a University providing administrative and academic leadership in higher education.
