Dr. John Brooks PhD

Council Member Biography

Dr. John Brooks, PhD is a Principal at Health Economics Consulting Group. Dr. Brooks research interests include investigating the impacts of market structure and provider access on medical treatment choice, obtaining unbiased estimates of the effects of treatments on outcomes from retrospective health care databases, and studying the welfare implications underlying provider and insurer bargaining. Dr. Brooks is presently tackling the theoretical and empirical issues surrounding treatment effectiveness research in several clinical areas including breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, end-stage renal disease, and acute nursing care. He has served as a consultant to several pharmaceutical companies and managed care organizations. Dr. Brooks is also an Associate Professor of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Iowa.
