Council Member Biography

John Carlson is an Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Benefit Intelligence, a regional employee benefit consulting firm with offices in California, Arizona, and Nevada. BI clients range in size from mid market with local offices to large multi state organizations. Mr. Carlson has over 20 years of employee benefits experience and has expertise in group purchasing of healthcare services, which includes self-funding, fully insuring and other alternative funding vehicles for employee benefit programs. He has also consulted for companies on all aspects of employee benefit. Previously, Mr. Carlson was a Vice President and Practice Leader at Marsh in Los Angeles, as a VP at Arthur J. Gallagher, and a Regional Sales Leader at First Health. Mr. Carlson worked at a Third Party Administrator who specialized in medical, dental, vision and Rx for self funded clients.
