Karl Drusch is the Chief Executive Officer of PSG Turbines, LLC a Texas-based firm specializing in commercial aircraft and engine sales, leasing and trading. PSG also focuses on commercial aircraft engine maintenance, repair management, and engineering. Prior to starting PSG, Mr. Drusch was with Pratt & Whitney. He managed all aspects of an MRO repair & trading facility and had full P&L responsibility of that unit at Pratt & Whitney. Mr. Drusch managed engineering and quality for a private aircraft & engine lease firm. His career began in maintenance and engineering for both Continental & Northwest Airlines where he managed all aspects of engine M&E. Mr. Drusch is currently involved in aircraft & engine trading, financing and leasing as well as current and future value estimating. He has also been contracted as an expert witness in aircraft return condition cases. Mr. Drusch holds a BS from Purdue University. (This is me - Update Profile)

We can all agree that no matter what the reason, 2009 is going to be ugly on the global scale. The US airlines may be in a little better shape then those in the rest of the world, but not by much. The question is, how ugly and for how long will we need to endure the pain.
Are flights run low on fuel? Is the 757 being "over" used?

Boeing and Airbus agree that the narrowbody replacement won't arrive any earlier than 2017. At least we found something they agree on.

Its not a matter of is it good or bad for the airline, I think we all agree its never good, but rather most mergers today are born from necessity. Either both airlines merger or one or both will almost certainly fail. In the old days airlines merged to get bigger and stronger, today its one of the survival modes in a very delicate industry.
