Kyd Brenner is a Partner at DTB Associates in Washington, DC, where he focuses on international food and feed safety and standards, trade in products of modern biotechnology and the interface between science and trade policy. Previously, he was Vice President of the Corn Refiners Association. Mr. Brenner participated in development of U.S. legislation and federal regulation that facilitated development of major food and feed markets. He assisted in development and implementation of key technical aspects of the Blair House agreement to the Uruguay Round that maintained one of the countries’ major export markets, and has extensive experience in U.S.-E.U. agricultural trade relations. Mr. Brenner was appointed to the Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee for Trade in Sweeteners by the Secretary of Agriculture and U.S. Trade Representative in 1997. He has served on the U.S. delegation to numerous meetings of the FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius Commission and many of its committees. In 1998 Mr. Brenner convened the Agricultural Biotechnology Forum to bring together interests across the food chain to share perspectives and policies on the introduction of biotechnology to the food system. He is also a member of the steering committee for Ag Vision 20/20, a public-private partnership designed to stimulate development of bio-energy and bioproducts.
