Marcel Kahan is the George T. Lowy Professor of Law at the New York University School of Law. His main areas of teaching and research are mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate governance, hedge funds, and bondholder rights. He has acted as consultant and expert witness on issues of corporate law, contract law, indenture interpretation, and creditors rights. Prof. Kahan is presently a member of the Board of Directors of the Center for Law and Business at New York University and of the board of editors of the Journal of Legal Analysis; and a past member of the Special Committee on Mergers, Acquisitions, and Corporate Control Contests and the Committee on Securities Regulation of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, of the Board of Directors of the American Law and Economics Association and of the Executive Committee of the Section on Business Association of the American Association of Law Schools. Prof. Kahan has written over 40 articles for law reviews, finance journals, and professional publications. His articles were awarded the Merton Miller Prize for the best paper submitted to the Journal of Business and the De Brauw Prize for the best paper in the ECGI Law Working Paper series and nominated for the Brattle Prize for the best paper in corporate finance published in the Journal of Finance and eight other articles have been selected as among the best corporate and securities articles by the "Corporate Practice Commentator".
