Michael Bain, MD, MS, is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Physician in private practice based in Southern California. Dr. Bain is also the Wound Care Director at Newport Nursing and Rehabilitation, since July 2010. He has experience in all areas of plastic and reconstructive surgery including bariatric, breast, cosmetic, and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Bain's interests are in the ever changing nature of cosmetic and plastic surgical procedures. He has published papers in hand surgery and nerve surgery and multiple papers in aesthetic surgery, breast reconstruction, Botox, and face-lifting/peri-oral procedures. Dr. Bain has presented research at the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Bostwick Burn & Wound Care Symposium, The Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgery, the ACS, and multiple international presentations including a landmark paper on the subject in Annals of Plastic Surgery and a technique for Botox use published in The Aesthetic Surgery Journal. Discount cosmetic surgery is already here, but not via large commercial companies. Retention of actual plastic and reconstructive surgeons may be difficult if they are not paying well. There is a place for this, however the solo practitioner will continue to have word of mouth and a place.
