Council Member Biography

Payam Maveddat is the Chief Strategist and Executive Vice President of Product Management & Business Development at Taqua LLC, a leading provider of next generation IP-IP switching and non-line of sight backhaul products. He is responsible for product management, profit & loss, market strategy, business development, product marketing, systems engineering and partnership programs. Mr. Maveddat has over 27 years of experience in product management, engineering and marketing with equipment vendors and start-ups. He specializes in 2G, 3G, 4G Wireless FMC and IMS, broadband, VoIP, soft switching, and fixed and mobile convergence including Femtocell and wireless backhaul. Previously, Mr. Maveddat held executive positions in product management, engineering and marketing positions at Mavenir Systems, Tekelec, Xybridge (now Zhone), Nortel, AT&T Bell Labs and DSC (now Alcatel). He has authored over eight US patents and has multiple articles and publications in wireless networking. (This is me - Update Profile)

T-Mobile US suffered a major network outage where a large number of subscribers could not send or receive voice or text messaging due to an outage in Nokia-Siemens' Home Location Register (HLR) as a result of an overload condition. This was the second incident that NSN has with their HLR that could prove to be costly.

Tellabs' main play in wireless so far has been in the backhaul, voice quality products, and transmission.
