Mr. Peter Shaerf

Council Member Biography

Peter Shaerf is a Managing Director at AMA Capital Partners, a merchant banking and private equity firm in the U.S. exclusively focused on the maritime industry. He has over 35 years experience in the industry as a shipbroker, then an investment banker. Mr. Shaerf has extensive experience in vessel valuations and is heavily involved in transaction origination. Prior to joining AMA, he co-founded Poseidon Capital, a specialist maritime boutique. Mr. Shaerf is Deputy Chairman of Seaspan (NYSE:SSW) and a director of General Maritime ( NYSE:GMR). He has also served on the board of The Containerization and Inter-modal Institute, and for four years as a Vice Chairman of the Short Sea Shipping Co-operative (SCOOP). Mr. Shaerf has been the Chairman of NYMAR ("New York Maritime") a non-profit group formed to promote New York as a major Maritime business center, since 2007. He is also a member of ABS and he holds a BA in International Business Law from London Metropolitan University. (This is me - Update Profile)
