Robert Naeije, MD, PhD, is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology and Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic at Erasme University Hospital. Dr. Naeije's main area of expertise is pulmonary circulation. His basic research is in the pathobiology of pulmonary hypertension. Dr. Naeije's clinic has participated in several recent randomized controlled trials of new pharmacological approaches in the treatment of pulmonary hypertension. He has participated in high altitude medical research expeditions and has consulted for companies such as Pfizer, Schering, Aventis, Actelion, Encysive, and United Therapeutics.
