Ron Lodge is currently President at Las Vegas Gaming Consultants, a gaming consultancy comprised of former Las Vegas gaming executives. He was previously a Senior Marketing Executive with the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas until 2003. Mr. Lodge oversaw marketing development efforts on behalf of the luxury casino. He has more than 40 years experience in the hotel and gaming industries and has served as a Senior Marketing Executive with Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino, Marketing Executive with the Rio Hotel, and as a Senior Casino Marketing Executive with The Mirage. He has also served as Vice President of Operations with several Las Vegas Hotels and Casinos, including The Maxim, Sahara, Thunderbird, and The Golden Nugget in Miami Beach. Lake Las Vegas is a very upscale community about fifteen miles S.E. of the Las vegas Strip. Private homes - 1700 of them surround three very beautiful golf courses, Lowe's Hotel and a Ritz-Carlton would be considered the anchor properties for the area.The MonteLago Casino is a few steps from the Ritz and well located within the Italian style village retail shopping promenade. Sounds great, but business is in distress and so are the properties mentioned above.........

Could the timing for a purchase by Penn National entering the Las Vegas gaming arena be slightly premature for them. Is this truly the market area that would fit into their family of properties? Can this be a mistake on their part, by looking into a type of higher end gaming establishments?
