Council Member Biography

Samantak Das, Ph.D, is the National Head of Research at Knight Frank India Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai. Dr. Das is responsible for the direction and strategic control of Pan India real estate research activities, which include the publications of quarterly reports pertaining to different asset classes, viz., office, residential, retail and hospitality, special reports on topical issues and forecasting models, and monthly tracking of macro-economic and real estate indicators. He has 14 years of experience in applied economic research and has contributed to more than 75 research projects in close association with the Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Commerce, Department of Telecommunications, National Informatics Centre, Reserve Bank of India, World Bank, World Wide Fund – India, the European Union, various state governments, associations and regulatory bodies of India. Prior to joining Knight Frank, he spent more than a decade with the Economic Think Tank – The National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) and worked on sectors like real estate, IT, automobile, telecommunication and trade and logistics. After that, Dr. Das had a two year stint at Indian Council for Market Research where as the Head - Research, he led a pan India project on the profiling of 44 cities with a focus on the real estate sector. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Finance from Indian Institute of Finance and a Masters degree from Calcutta University. (This is me - Update Profile)
