Steve Rubinstein, OD, is a Clinical Optometrist at Diamond District Eye Associates and Sound Shore Vision Center, office based practices in New York. Dr. Rubinstein has a biochemical background. He has won the Frank R. Blood award by the Society of Toxicology for the best paper in this peer reviewed publication. Dr. Rubinstein is also an adviser with Cancer Care, Inc. and presents to groups of patients as a cancer survivor. He has interest in ocular evaluation of glaucoma using coherent lasers. No this is not 2007! A new problem has occurred in the manufacturing of Baucsh & Lomb's current signature contact lens disinfecting product, ReNu. Bausch has just released BioTrue, the next best product in Contact Lens care about 2 weeks ago.

There are new regulations and new contact lens solutions being announced almost weekly. Both Abbott and Bausch & Lomb have released new information on contact lens solutions. The industry leader Alcon's OptiFree with almost 33% of the retail US market should announce a new solution soon.

The rights for the the new anti inflammatory medication Durezol is Hot. The rights for Zirgan is a much smaller market, but there is limited competition in that field.The New Dry Eye Syndrome medication for Ocular Surface Disease is the first potential since the blockbuster medication Restasis. This is undergoing clinical clinical testing now. There are one or two other Dry Eye Syndrome medications coming down the pipeline.
