Steven Fishbane, MD, is Chief of Nephrology, Associate Chairman of the Department of Medicine, and Director of End-Stage Renal Disease Research at Winthrop-University Hospital (WUH) in Mineola, NY. Dr. Fishbane is also Professor of Medicine at the New York State University at Stony Brook School of Medicine and Medical Director of the Dialysis Network, a group of WUH-affiliated inpatient and outpatient dialysis centers. Renowned for his studies on end-stage renal disease and dialysis therapy, Dr. Fishbane is also a member of the National Kidney Foundation's Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (NKF-KDOQI), which develops guidelines for the treatment of anemia associated with chronic kidney disease. Dr. Fishbane is on the Editorial Board for the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology and Advances in Renal Replacement and is a reviewer for several journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine.
