Council Member Biography

Steven Geller is a Partner at Greenspoon Marder law firm. Senator Geller specializes in the areas of zoning and land use law, gambling law, and insurance law. He was the Senate Minority (Democratic) Leader, a Member of the Florida Senate from 1998 to 2008, and was the President of both the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) (1996-2007), and the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) (2003-2004). He was a Member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1988 to 1998. Geller was the Chairman of the Comprehensive Planning Committee and the Agriculture and Consumer Services Committee in the Senate, and the Chairman of the Regulated Industries (alcohol, tobacco, and gambling) in the House. He served two terms as the Chairman of both the Broward County Legislative delegation and the Hendry County Legislative delegation.
