Steven Harnsberger is President, SHI Digital, a consultancy in online video & the over-the-top digital distribution of movies, TV and premium video. Mr. Harnsberger is also the Principal at FreeStyle Digital Media, licensing movies to the digital & cable VOD leaders. He is a streaming media expert. For four years, he was VP Strategic Business Development at Sonic Solutions, specializing in DVD, a white label digital movie platform (CinemaNow) which BlockBuster, Sears & BestBuy use. He executed the first digital deals with CinemaNow, Amazon, Google & Yahoo. Mr. Harnsberger spearheaded the first STB DVD/DVR with SA & the first "TiVo To Go" product. Steve has 12 years in digital media including mobile, 3D, wireless, portables, PC, netbooks, tablets, DVR, DVD, BluRay, kiosk DVD rental, digital music, and broadband video. He consults in new media focusing on disruptors: Netflix, Coinstar RedBox, GoogleTV, AppleTV, Boxee, WD Live & Roku. Good article - the ugly truth about digital movies on the web is that no stand alone digital video content service makes money today, not CinemaNow (Sonic Nasdaq SNIC), Amazon, Vudu, or BlockBuster.  The business model is missing, the revenue share small and the demand absent.Many have tried and failed including: Intertainer, MovieLink, Akimbo, Moviebeam - even CinemaNow was sold because it could not make money.
