Dr. Thitinan Pongsudhirak

Council Member Biography

Thitinan Pongsudhirak, PhD, is Professor and Director of Chulalongkorn University's Institute of Security and International Studies, Bangkok. He has held visiting positions at Johns Hopkins and Stanford universities. He is an expert on Thai politics and Asean affairs and a frequently quoted commentator and columnist on their impact on investment. Dr. Thitinan has published many articles and chapters in journals and books about Thailand, Asean, and East Asia, and is Author/Co-author of several books on Thai politics and political economy. His experiences include serving as Producer for the BBC World Service, a Consultant to Airports of Thailand and Pruksa Real Estate for their Thai stock exchange listings, Thailand Analyst for the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), and Analyst with Independent Economic Analysis (IDEA). His PhD from LSE was the UK's Best Dissertation in International Politics. He holds an M.A. in International Economics from Johns Hopkins and B.A. from U. of California.
