Twits or how airlines are using Twitter to make life easier | iagblog.podomatic.com
Many people over 30 years old have only heard of Twitter. But if you have a smartphone, you would do well to download the free software. By using Twitter a consumer can offer instant feedback on anything - from travel to a restaurant meal. A whole industry is unfolding around protection of brand management from Twitter feedback.
US to Lead Elusive Bizjet Recovery

Business Jet Demand is Stalling | www.wealth-bulletin.com
By now we all know that the bottom has fallen out of the worldwide business jet market. What hasn't yet been addressed is which region of the world will recover first.
Business aviation market recovery will be unlike any prior cycle

business-jet market faces recession-based challenges | online.wsj.com
1) The current downturn was already evident in late 2007. Between rising used aircraft inventories, and tightness in the aircraft financing market, a significant downturn was inevitable. The major OEM's maintained record production rates, with scant regard for an imminent slowdown, much as they did in 2001/2002. 2) These same OEM's have also under-analyzed their backlog, boasting numbers they claimed would make them all-but invulnerable to any downturn. Backlog has meant less in recent years as speculators and international concept buyers, all of whom carry risk for OEM's, have come to represent an ever higher proportion of backlog. 3) Looking forward, we are set for a competitive battle unlike any we have seen previously. Segments are now crowded. More international OEM's are emerging, and demand will drift away from legacy OEM's, like Cessna, Hawker Beechcraft and Gulfstream.
EADS in the USA DOD and HS Market

EADS still eyeing smaller U.S. buys | www.reuters.com
It is evident that EADS needs to acquire USA DOD industrial strength in the USA independent of the result of their AF tanker program proposed aircraft competition with Boeing. BAE has gained a strong role in the USA as one of the top DOD electroincs and system suppliers as has Italy's Finmecanica made a major penetration with the DRS Technologies acquisition. I believe UAV systems and avionics represent a growing market for them to consider an acquistion like Axsys, FLIR or other UAV avionic players.
A Marvel, Misunderstood - Business Aircraft
March 20, 2009
Business-Jet Demand is Stalling | online.wsj.com
Why are we vilifying a $100 billion sector of our manufacturing economy? The business jet is an important tool that permits businesses to compete effectively in multiple locations domestically and internationally. It has been documented that the most profitable companies own business aircraft. Cessna Aircraft (Textron), Gulfstream (General Dynamics) and others are tightening their belts against the economic tsunami, but perception may be their greatest challenge.
Cessna (TXT) Optimism Premature
March 20, 2009
Cessna VP Sees Brighter Days for Jets | www.kansas.com
While we're delighted that Cessna feels the business jet industry has hit bottom, we think it's still a little early to proclaim this. The industry has historically high numbers of used inventory to sell before customers return to the new airplane arena. The economy, credit situation and negative public perception of business aviation must also improve before buyers are comfortable enough to part with potentially tens of millions of dollars for a new jet.
Used Business Jet Inventory to Peak Mid-2009

Corproate Jets - Deeply Uncool, The Economist 1/9/09 | www.economist.com
The new aircraft manufacturers, Cessna (TXT), Gulfstream (GD), Embraer (ERJ), Bombardier (BDRAF), Hawker Beechcraft and Dassault cannot hope to sell new aircraft until the current used business jet inventory is reduced. That's in addition to delivery positions that are for sale, that is, customers selling their aircraft to someone else without ever taking delivery. Insincere sellers are compounding the situation.

The IFE&C space (in-flight entertainment & connectivity) is hotting up again. After the inglorious collapse of what was Boeing Connexion, an idea rich with promise, but ill timed, the concept of allowing airline passengers to make use of dead time remained elusive. But now with two options working in the US (AirCell and Row44) as well as a couple of others overseas, in-flight communications is roaring back.
