Emerging Trends Driving the 2010 China Auto Industry: An Introduction

November 3, 2010

Auto sales end 2009 with uptick, but year was awful | www.usatoday.com

2009 was a year of tremendous historical significance to the China auto industry.  Triggered by the global financial crisis, the global automotive industry witnessed a year of unprecedented restructuring, as many industry icons struggled for their survival.  After peaking in 2007 at 70 million units, the global automotive markets experienced a contraction of nearly 10% over the next 2 years.  The mature "triad" markets of North America, Western Europe, and Japan have led this decline.

Biggest Myth in Trucking -- The General Rate Increase Means Something

September 30, 2010

FedEx Freight to Raise LTL Rates 6.9 Percent | www.joc.com

FedEx Freight and ABF Freight System are first out of the box with announcements of their general rate increases for 2001--6.9 percent for FEF and 5.9 percent for ABF. Troubled LTL giant YRC Worldwide says it is raising rates by 5.9 percent as well. But hardly any large shipper will be affected by these rate increases, which apply only to non-contract rates and often are discounted away in negotiations with truckers' large national accounts.
