AA CHIEF ACKNOWLEDGES 'ENORMOUS RISK' IN GDS BATTLE | www.travelmarketreport.com
While ABC's nightly news counts down to the breakdown in government talks over our multi-trillion dollar debt, a countdown of another variety is also ticking away. On August 31st, Sabre and American Airlines' contract for the distribution of AA's inventory to the online and offline travel agency community expires. As of this writing, that leaves 36 days, 3 hours, 15 minutes and 07 seconds for American and Sabre to come to terms.
AMR American Airlines Stock may reach an all time low
July 22, 2011
AMR on Yahoo! Finance | finance.yahoo.com
The stock trading chart for AMR, the parent of American Airlines, looks like the downward trek from the summit of Mount Everest. It last traded at $4.36, with today's rates bouncing between $4.26 and $4.59. The 52 week high is $8.98. This past week American announced the largest aircraft order in history with Boeing and Airbus. Next week, a dangerous game of chicken with Sabre will play out, with AA threatening to pull out of the US' largest global distribution system company's displays.

CORRECT: Fundtech Agrees To S1 Merger In Deal That Values Co At $318 Million | online.wsj.com
Clearly, bigger is an advantage for bank tech providers. With Fiserv and FIS as the two 800 pound gorillas, the small and mid-tier players need to successfully consolidate to thrive. There is probably room for a third gorilla, and not many good reasons for keeping around the small chimps.

5Q Interview with Richard Anderson (Delta CEO) | www.thetransnational.travel
In reference to "Richard Anderson, Delta Air Lines (5Q Interview)" I published my blog today which was entitled:To Delta Airlines: I would have built the website for $80 million.....As a follow on to my earlier article last week about doing the math on distribution costs, I can't resist commenting on Delta spending $100 million on its website, or roughly $1 per passenger boarded, based on 2010 performance).

RT: Moodys' Portugal Debt Evaluation | rt.com
The EU is at a cross roads. Top level political criticism by the likes of German Finance Minister Schauble of the right for ratings agencies to speak freely does not portend towards the EU being an open and dynamic project. Rather the worry is that the EU establishment is going backwards in terms of all rights when faced with a financial crisis which they themselves helped create.
